CROWLEY
Before I get into this one I just have to say that in the soundtrack of my life Iron Maiden has probably played more of a role than any other musical act.  Why is that important?  Because this film was co-written by none other than Bruce Dickinson, said acts lead singer.  So, of course, with no real reason I was excited about this.
What I took from the special features is that they wanted to do a bio pic on Alestier Crowley, a man from the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century who is an acclaimed occultist and at his time referred to as "The Wickedest Man Alive."  What we got was a psuedo science fiction horror film due to budget restraints.

A Virtual Reality expirement goes wrong and Crowley returns to possess the man who was in the VR suit.  Chaos ensues as the returned sorceror tries to complete his goals that his death prevented him from doing.

All in all this was a pretty good flick.  Very character and story driven horror.  Not especially gory or really all that scary.  It takes a while for you to get a feel for the menace that Crowley is supposed to represent.

The acting is relatively good.  I say relatively because some of it is excellent and some of it is mediocre, so the over all effect leaves it somewhere in the middle.  The lighting is excellent however and moods are conveyed well through that and the pacing of the film.

It is a B flick that almost transcends its lack of funds but not quite.  The story is good however and well worth a watch.

My biggest problem (and I know why they did it) was the fact that they kind of forced in some Bruce Dickinson and Iron Maiden into the soundtrack which detracted from the film.  If they had kept with the score they might have improved this to a must own in my opinion.

All in all a decent film and good first attempt for Bruce Dickinson.  Good enough that I want to see him try something else in the future.
