DARK FLOORS
![]() Now I know who Lordi is and have even heard a few of their songs but that is about the extent of my knowledge concerning them. I really don't know what they are about besides being another shock rock Gwar type band. They weren't the driving force behind me watching this. The little blurb on the back piqued my interest so I checked it out.
It tells the story of an autistic little girl who may have unwittingly unleashed monsters into a hospital plunging five people into a hellish alternate reality.
It wasn't bad. It wasn't great but not bad. After watching the special features and finding out it was the first horror film produced in Finland then I must say it was a good first try.
It was paced nicely and went more for suspense and boos than it did for gore. The short little zombie scene at the end was actually a little creepy. The worst part of it was although as stage makeup goes Lordi has some impressive work, but it looked a little hokey on film.
One of the best things about it though is that the band didn't really do any acting, just being monsters and ghosts that chased the actors. The rest of the small cast did a decent job.
Another bright spot is that they didn't use any of the band's music in the soundtrack opting instead to go with a nice mood enhancing ambient score.
If your a fan of Lordi then by all means add this to your collection. If not check it out when your in the mood for such things. Oh and by the by, this probably is the best movie put out by Ghosthouse Underground. Sadly though, that isn't saying a whole lot.
