PUNISHER: WARZONE
![]() Well, I just finished watching this one again. And again I truly enjoyed it.
Now, as a self-professed comic geek I have to say that when these films come out I tend to be a little critical, but also try to maintain a distance and see the films for what they are. I realize that characterizations and storylines are going to change to fit the screen and the vision of the director.
In the comic books I never really liked The Punisher. Just wasn't my cup of tea I suppose, but I always felt that he would be the best one for the silver screen. And with three attempts now at putting him there I was a little disheartened with the tries.
The ones with Dolph Lundgren in the eighties and the one starring Thomas Jane, in my mind both made okay action films but really didn't portray the character. The just called their protagonist The Punisher and tried to force audiences to accept it. This one however, was The Punisher. Ray Stevenson becomes the Frank Castle that Marvel Comics has produced numerous comics about.
Its a typical action story. Frank tries to kill some gangsters then misses one and he comes back as Jigsaw. Jigsaw then tries to kill Frank. That is essentially it, though they do at a bit more to it than that.
If you like the comic book then you will like this movie. If you like fun, gory action movies then you'll like this movie. If not, avoid it.
