REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT

Synopsis: A Heavyweight Boxer has fought his last fight. He now, punch drunk and unskilled, has to go into the world and earn a living.

PROS
Mickey Rooney
Jackie Gleason
Anthony Quinn
Rod Serling’s Script

CONS
None Really

Final Analysis: The performances here are pitch perfect, Anthony Quinn’s Mountain is a gentle giant with garbled speech and inadequate communication skills. Mickey Rooney ‘s faithful friend truly has Mountain’s best interest at heart. Jackie Gleason’s scummy, mooch of a manager looking to squeeze every penny and ounce of dignity out of Mountain. Really good character study on a down and out fighter after the lights are gone.

FORGOTTEN CLASSIC.
