TROPIC THUNDER
Now this one I wanted to see, but maintained some trepidation. I have found most of Ben Stiller’s films to be either uproariously funny or mildly amusing. I can say I haven’t out and out hated any of the ones I have seen but his shtick has started to grow stale to me.

The premise of the film, where four actors while filming a Vietnam war movie are thrown into the midst of a real war sounded very funny. Plus adding Jack Black and the Robert Downey Jr. into the mix seemed to me like can’t miss hilarity or absolute shit with a bunch of hams trying to outdo each other.

I can’t really explain what happened when I watched it though. I found it very amusing (although somewhat predictable) but only laughed once. And the laugh was more of a short titter than a guffaw or belly laugh.

As I watched each scene I kept looking at things and thinking to myself, “That was funny, huh, that was funny.” But I never really busted a gut at anytime. Maybe I was just too tired.

It was fun and dumb and exactly what you would expect. If you’re in a mood to be entertained but don’t want your sides to hurt when you go to work the next day I will heartily recommend this one.

Well that’s it for this time. I’ll be sure to be a lifeless lump of a couch tumor in the near future and share my thoughts with you again. Till next time,
